Initiated in the 80s by PADI, Project AWARE works with scuba divers and environmentalists all over the globe to protect underwater environments.

A CLEAN AND HEALTHY OCEAN

Project Aware have created the most comprehensive dataset of marine debris in the world and educated over 2,500 students about the impacts of the litter. Speaking of debris, over 1.6 million pieces have been removed from our oceans by this inspirational team. This is how the organisation work towards a clean ocean.

For a healthy ocean, devil rays, mantas and other sharks have been protected by the movement due to their efforts to secure an EU finning ban and enforcing the Convention of Migratory Species of Wild Animals. This is a huge step in securing the future of these species.

MY OCEAN

'My ocean' is an environmental community that remove marine debris from our oceans, speak out for sharks and rays and mobilise the community into action. This platform allows people to share their stories in conservation, create events and use a wide range of educational and useful tools.

WHAT WE DO

As a business, Bay Beads believes in giving back. We craft all our jewellery out of sea glass and stone that washes up on our local beaches. We are grateful for what the ocean has done for us so we feel it is only right to show some love to our sea. That's why we are proud to be a part of Project AWARE's Team Ocean. Additionally, we want to educate people on things we find interesting about our oceans to help communities understand the wonders of the natural world.
